RESULTS OF THE 6th
ANNUAL
ANTIQUE BOTTLE AND GLASS COLLECTORS WRITERS CONTEST.
This years awards are: First place in both categories, a
Fish Bitters. Second place in both categories, a L.Q.C. Wishart's
Pine Tree Tar Cordial. Third place in both categories, a 4-log
Drake's Plantation Bitters. Honorable Mention in both catagories
will receive a free one-year subscription to Antique Bottle &
Glass Collector magazine.
An amazing 16 articles were submitted for the contest. Nine were
entered in the digging category, the other seven were in the
other article category.
Three judges judged each of the two categories. Judges scored
points as follows. 10 points for there favorite article digging
story or 10 for the general, 9 to 6 for there second, 5 to 4
third and on down, with all articles receiving points.
As with last year's competition this years was very close
The results are as follows!
In the all Digging Articles category
First place with 27 points: "Hot Town! Summer in the city. Back of my neck getting dirty n' gritty." by Andy Goldfrank (January 2008 issue).
Second place with 25 points: "No Water Reservoir Square" by Daniel Magee (November 2008 issue).
Third place with 22 points: "The Privy/Well" by Richard Weiner (June 2008 issue).
Honorable mention with 17 points: "Diggin' up Denver with the legendary Colorado Boys" by Al Miller (March 2008 issue) - "Thirty-four cellar holes and the 'Humpy' thing" by Peter B. Samuelson (May 2008 issue) - "A Ghostly Dig" by Pamela Hegedus (April 2008 issue).
In the all Other Articles category
First place with 27 points: "Honest Measure" by Peter B. Samuelson (September 2008 issue).
Second place with 24 points: "Making the best out of the best" by Bruce Schad (August 2008 issue).
Third place with 23 points: "Kentucky couple finds opium cache" by Steve Keith (June 2008 issue).
Honorable mention with 20 points: "The world of J. & I.E.M. Inks" by Dave Graci (May 2008 issue).
The staff of Antique Bottle and Glass Collector magazine would like to thank everyone who participated in last years event.
